House of Lurgies

What a week! My bunny, Bubbles, had an enlarged left eye and I whipped her down to the vet suspecting glaucoma (her brother, Nibbles, had his eye removed earlier this year for glaucoma - which is extremely rare in rabbits incidentally - unless they're New Zealand Whites).

I've had my daughter home sick with a cold, her asthma flared up again, an ear infection developed and she has to stay in her room with the vapouriser and heater. Yup - you guessed it... 'Mum, I'm bored! What can I do?' So... out with the craft! We're making a patchwork doona cover out of 30cm squares of cotton fabric and using pastel paint sticks and 3-D paint tubes to decorate them. So far we've paid homage to Wallace & Gromit, Totoro, Pokemon, Flushed Away, Hamtaro & Harry Potter in the designs.

I now have a pair of slipper socks!! My first completed pair of socks - very proud. My second glove is coming along nicely... I'm up to the fingers... and I finished my Harry Potter book scarf on a loom made from cardboard, paperclips, glue and tape.

I has a cold

Well, I finished my needle roll for dpns and crochet hooks... being sick in bed has some advantages, I guess. It's a fabric roll with a strip of knitted 9-stitch plait to slip the needles through.

Have also been working on my second sock (I'm up to the heel flap), my second slipper sock (just finished the fluffy cuff) and my 'Frankenglove'.
Think I'd better finish off the pairs before starting more new projects *sigh*.
OK - make that no more projects with pairs...
That means I can make Harry Potter book scarves :)

But for now, it's back to bed urgghh!

First Post

It wasn’t until I started to hang out with ‘New Agers’ that I realised how seriously problematic they were.

Take my ex-husband – please! While we were together people kept saying that because I had a 5 in my numerology chart I had hidden agendas – and slowly backed away from me accordingly. Meanwhile, to cut a long story short, my ex-dearly-beloved was pretending to love me for my bank account (which was seriously mediocre by today’s standards and I have no idea why he bothered) and having multiple affairs behind my back. So… what do you think they said about him? Worshiped him like a demigod, said his numerology chart indicated that he came into this world with no karma (methinks he has some now) and treated him as if white light came out of his anal sphincter.

Consequently there are no white lights, rainbows or mung beans in my household now.

But there is knitting… and crochet, cross stitch, sewing, beading, quilting, gardening, cake decorating, tile mosaic, some rather rudimentary carpentry, two cats, three rabbits, a guinea-pig and a beautiful daughter.

And ‘Barbies’. I still have one of my own from the 70s – the rest are my daughter’s. The best thing about Barbie is making clothes for her. I have a serious wardrobe of knitted, crocheted and home-made clothes created by myself, my mother and my grandmother – three generations of Barbie clothes. Yes, she even has a 70s cat suit and pink bunny slippers (pictured with a pink dressing gown made by my mother and white cotton PJs that I made).
